Research plot size and proximity limit postemergence application of nonselective herbicides close to single rows, between plots, and in alleys. We had a wind-protected spray applicator built to fit a fourwheel all-terrain vehicle. This equipment has proven versatile, practical, and economical for chemical control of weeds within 10 nun of plants spaced 0.15 m apart in 0.6- to 0.9-m rows, and around research plots.
