A jaw-action soil crusher is described that crushes and screens soil with minimum contamination, dust production, and operator effort. The machine is suited to samples of greater than 1 liter volume and yields up to 10 kg of 11-mm mesh soil, or lesser amounts of finer soil, per minute.
