A Convenient Method of Placing Radioactive Substances in Soil for Studies of Root Development1

Aqueous radioactive solution is placed into medical gelatine capsules which are then quickly frozen over dry ice. The frozen capsules are dropped into holes of various known depths, and root growth to those depths is timed by detection of radioactivity in the leaves.
