Neutron Activation Analysis Technique for the Determination of Extractable Aluminum

Lawrence E. Beyer and Dale E. Baker2

Activation analysis for aluminum extracted from stripmine spoils with N NH4OAc at PH 4.8 was found to be a rapid method with high sensitivity. The analysis involved I minute of exposure of the extract to a neutron flux of 3 x 1012 cm–2 sec–1 followed by counting of the gammas of 1.78 MEV for 100 seconds.

Key Words: Strip-mine spoils
