Synopsis: Percent of grain moisture in ripening grain sorghum hybrids and average number of days from planting to one-half bloom were highly correlated, but correlations were lower at successive sampling dates as the crop approached maturity. A low correlation was observed when grain moisture and days from planting to bloom were compared within a single maturity group. Days to one-half bloom are a general indication of relative maturity of sorghum hybrids, but differential drying and filling rates are also important in determining relative harvest maturities.
