Effects of Dates and Rates of Nitrogen Fertilization on the Quality and Field Performance of Five Hard Red Spring Wheat Varieties1

F. H. McNeal, C. A. Watson and H. A. Kittams2

Synopsis: Flour protein percentages were nearly the same from wheat receiving applications of nitrogen fertilizer at sowing time and in the flowering stage, but valorimeter values were significantly lower from applications made in the flowering stage. Rates of nitrogen fertilizer produced significant differences in flour protein, flour yield, absorption, valorimeter, and loaf volume.
