A Chlorophyll Index to Measure Turfgrass Response1

John H. Madison and Aage H. Andersen2

Synopsis: The chlorophyll content is expressed as mg. per dm.2 of land and this is termed a chlorophyll index (CI). The CI correlates with visual turf ratings, responds to fertilizer, but when nitrogen levels are adequate it is little responsive to mowing, irrigation, or shading practices.
