Synopsis: In a 2-year study, no significant differences in dry matter yield or protein content appeared between alfalfa-brome stands originally containing from 2 to 12 or more alfalfa plants per square foot. Increments of nitrogen up to 120 pounds per acre did not affect yield, but caused an increase in crude protein percentage of the mixed forage by the second year.
