Use of 4-Tert-Butylpyrocatechol as a Fracturing Aid in Crusting Soils

Synopsis: Between 150 to 250 ppm of the chemical in the seed row are sufficient to induce fracturing in most soils. The actual amount needed is a direct function of the base exchange capacity and CaCO3 content, and an inverse function of the organic matter content of the soil treated.
