Synopsis: Nutrient deficiencies were reflected in differences in percent N, P, and K in the leaves and leaf sheaths more than in other plant parts. In early season samples, differences in percentages of NO3-N in the plant due to differences in N availability were greater than those of total N. Within each plant part the percentage of water-soluble P was highly correlated with the percentage of total P.
