Synopsis: Over the 3-year period, 1952 to 1954, yields of canning peas increased as plants per acre increased, while yield per plant decreased. This response was almost completely independent of both row spacing and spacing within the row. Yields of alfalfa hay were relatively unaffected by stand density and method of seeding a companion crop of peas.
