The Use of Small Silos to Determine Dry Matter Losses during Ensiling1

Synopsis: Small experimental silos provided a means of comparing 8 preservatives for succulent forage on the basis of reduced losses of juice and total dry matter. It appeared that wilting immature forage before ensiling is more economical than any preservatives now available to farmers.
