Biometrical Studies of Yield in Segregating Populations of Korean Lespedeza1

C. H. Hanson, H. F. Robinson and R. E. Comstock2

Synopsis: Studies of 3 populations of F2 families in the F3 and F4 generations grown at 2 locations revealed the following factors: genotype year interactions relatively large; seed yield generally more heritable than total yield; heritability of vigor lower for scores on July 1 than those on Aug. 15; and exceptionally low genetic coefficient of variation and heritability of vigor scores for the population segregating for procumbency.

1 Joint contribution from the Departments of Agronomy and Experimental Statistics, North Carolina State College and the Field Crops Research Branch, A.R.S., U.S.D.A., Raleigh, N. C.; Journal Paper No. 711, North Carolina Agr. Exp. Sta.

2 Research Agronomist, Field Crops Research Branch, and Research Associate Professor of Agronomy, N. C. State College; and Professors of Experimental Statistics, N. C. State College, respectively.
