Synopsis: A gene with slight morphological effects in normal dent endosperm, which increases amylose content to about 60% without increasing water-soluble polysaccharides, is described. It is inherited as a simple recessive. The symbol ha (high amylose) is proposed, and it is shown that chromosome 5 carries the ha locus.
