Influence of Interplanting of Corn and Ladino Clover on the Yields of Corn1

Russell K. Stivers2

Synopsis: Ladino clover adjacent to corn reduced corn yields. There was also a trend toward reduced ear weights. Nitrogen leaf deficiency symptoms and response to fertilization of corn indicated competition for soil nitrogen. Clover grew an average < 6 inches toward cultivated corn rows after cultivation ceased.
