Synopsis: In 3-year dry land tests at 3 locations in Oklahoma, significant or highly significant differences in yield of 2 test varieties resulted from border effects in 4 of the 9 tests. Differences in yield of the 2 varieties averaged over all borders were highly significant in 5 of the 9 tests. No significant border x variety interaction indicated similar reaction of test varieties to borders. On the basis of these results, Oklahoma variety tests are planted with 4-row plots, the center 2 harvested for yield.
